2019 Taiwanese Student Association Presidents Joint Conference has been successfully concluded

In an effort to strengthen the connection between the Ministry of Education in Taiwan and the Taiwanese Student Associations (TSA) in Texas, the Education Division of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in Houston conducted a joint conference for the Taiwanese student association presidents on September 27, 2019 at the Hess Club, Houston, Texas.
20 presidents and board members of the TSA from 10 universities and colleges in Texas attended the conference this year. At the beginning of the conference, a warm welcome and brief introduction about the services of Education Division were given to the TSA presidents by Director Andrea Yang of Education Division. She also appealed to students to pay attention on the phone call scam, and never reveal personal information neither transfer money to unknown people.
This conference focused on providing important information about living and studying in the U.S.  Commander Christine Anthony-Miller of Houston Police Department was invited to talk about safety issues. The attendees were educated how to react to the crime and protect themselves.
A career experience lecture was provided by the founder of MCT Engineering, Inc., Warren Kuo. Mr. Kuo shared with students his experience about starting up his own business in the U.S. In the third session, the licensed attorney, Daniel Chen gave a talk on immigration and Visa issues related to international students.
After the conference, in order to honor all the Taiwanese educators in Great Houston area for their contributions and achievements, Director General Peter Chen of TECO in Houston hosted a Teachers’ Day Celebration Dinner. The Taiwanese faculties from well-known universities, colleges and K-12 schools are all invited to join this event. The representatives of the Taiwanese Student Associations were also invited to celebrate this special day and pay tribute to all teachers.
All the participants have found this conference is inspired, informative, and benefited greatly. And a solid connection among Taiwanese Student Associations has been maintained and strengthened as well.
